Sister Kathleen Donohue, OSU, a native of New Haven, CT, has dedicated her life to serving others through her work in education and ministry. Growing up in Norwich, she was surrounded by a strong religious foundation, which eventually led her to join the religious community of the Ursuline Sisters.

She received a BA in History and a MS in Gerontology from the College of New Rochelle, an MA in Education from Catholic University and a MA in Religion from Fordham University.

Throughout her 60 years as a Sister, Sister Kathleen has found her greatest joy in working with people, particularly children. She has touched the lives of many through her roles as an elementary school teacher, school administrator, and caregiver at the Providence Center in New Rochelle, NY. Her work with the elderly has also been a source of great fulfillment for her, emphasizing the importance of understanding and supporting those in need.

One of Sister Kathleen’s favorite times in ministry was her experience at the Holy Spirit School in New Castle, DE, where she developed close relationships with students and their families. The support from the parish community made it a joyful and fulfilling place to work.

A transformative moment in Sister Kathleen’s life came during a 100-day sabbatical in the desert of Sante Fe, where she participated in a spiritual retreat with the Christian Brothers. Surrounded by like-minded individuals committed to prayer and spiritual growth, she found solace in the beauty of the desert landscape and the camaraderie of her fellow retreatants.

Throughout her years of service, Sister Kathleen’s advice to others is to stay true to themselves and remain authentic and open. Her unwavering dedication to her faith and her commitment to serving others serve as an inspiration to all who know her.
