Sister Nuala Briody, DMJ

Sister Teresa McShane, DMJ (5)

When Sister Nuala Briody, a Daughter of Mary and Joseph, professed her vows many years ago, she imagined her future unfolding under the warm sun of an African mission—sitting beneath a tree, surrounded by children, sharing stories about God. But as it often happens, God had other plans.

Sister Nuala was instead called to serve in California, where she taught in parochial schools in San Francisco, Mill Valley, and throughout the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. These memories continue to be life-giving and filled with joy.

In later years, she transitioned to parish work and served as a hospital chaplain in Orange County. Now retired in Rancho Palos Verdes, Sister Nuala enjoys the beauty of the natural world and continues to live a life of service through volunteer work.
