Honorees
Sister Mary Bourdon, RJM
For the past 20 years, Sister Mary has served as the co-founding Head of School at the Washington School for Girls. From day one, she recognized the needs of the female adolescent communities of southeast DC, and set to work providing solutions for girls and their families.
Before starting The Washington School for Girls over 20 years ago, Sister Mary was a school counselor and teacher at Regina High School in Hyattsville, Maryland and Jesus and Mary Academy in El Paso, Texas. She has also served as the director of Quest, a volunteer program sponsored by the Religious of Jesus and Mary that does extensive work in Haiti. She has worked in individual and family counseling for Catholic Charities and in Catholic Schools of the Archdiocese of Washington.

Jones Day has a long history of, and commitment to, pro bono work, public service, and community involvement. Their pro bono commitments range from complex litigation matters with precedential impact to representing needy individuals in local courts and administrative tribunals.
While the legal issues advanced are varied, the Firm has made a particular effort to secure the rights of individuals to affordable and decent housing and to advance the rights of children with respect to education.
