The Barrys have been active members of the Catholic community in Orange County, California for more than 50 years, where the Barry Family Foundation has supported the Diocese of Orange and many local charities, such as Orange County Catholic Charities, as well as many humanitarian efforts outside of Orange County from Haiti to Northern Alaska.

Betty and Terrance have also given their time and talents to their church, St. Norbert Parish in Orange, for 47 years, volunteering with the parish school and finance board, as Eucharistic ministers and lectors, visiting the homebound, and fundraising.

They have been members of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre for 30 years.  They recently received Gold Palms from the Grand Magisterium in Rome in recognition of their many years of meritorious service and support to the Equestrian Order.

On May 22, 2009 Terrance received from Pope Benedict XVI the “Holy Cross Pro Ecclesia Et Pontifice” award of the Roman Catholic Church.  This award is for distinguished service to the church by laity and clergy, and is the highest medal awarded to a laity by the Papacy.

Terrance has been a long time member of the Order of Malta and in 2010 received their “al Merito Melitense” award for meritorious service and support.

In 1985, Betty and Terrance founded The Barry Company a small family real estate company that owns and manages apartments and warehouses in California, Arizona and Texas.  Four of the Barrys’ children work in this business.
