Introducing Founders’ Grants

Sheila

More than 30 years ago, the founders of SOAR! learned about the critical need to help aging Catholic Sisters, Priests and Brothers. SOAR! was founded in 1986 to raise funds and administer grants to improve residences or health care facilities for retired religious. Grants from SOAR! allow aging religious to live in safety and with dignity. Since its founding, SOAR! has awarded over $15 million in grants to 400 congregations in the United States and Puerto Rico.

SOAR! continues to follow the inspiration of its founders who responded to the needs of the times. In this 30th anniversary year, SOAR! announces a new funding opportunity – The Founders’ Grant. The grant will help provide for adaptive equipment or furniture for aging religious who are active in ministry, but who do not reside at a motherhouse or health care facility.

Some religious men and women who are well into their 70s, 80s, and even 90s minister among the people of God in a convent or local residence closer to their work. As with many people who are aging and active, moving a Sister, Priest or Brother to a retirement facility or nursing home is not always warranted. SOAR! wants to make the lives of these aging, active religious a little easier.

If you know of an aging Sister, Priest or Brother from a religious community who might benefit from a Founders’ Grant, please share this information with them. Grant applications will be accepted until March 15, 2016. Click here for details.

Thank you for spreading the word!
